As the weather cools down, it’s a great time to stay indoors and do some simple Fall crafts. With the rain starting to fall, it can be nice to be all cozy and make some creative art projects with the kids. Preschoolers are at such a fun age for art exploration and there are lots of simple fall crafts they can do even when they are little. Here are 5 simple Fall crafts your kids will love (and some for Halloween too!):
Pasta Pumpkin Project

For this craft you will need pasta, paint, glue, paper, a pipe cleaner and a paper bag. Mix paint & water and use the mixture to dye the pasta. Let the pasta dry and then have kids glue the pasta into the shape of a pumpkin. The cut-up paper bag becomes the stem and you can add a pipe cleaner so it looks like a vine.
Pumpkin Playdough Recipe

Spice up your playdough recipe with a hint of fall!
Add pumpkin emulsion or pumpkin pie spice to your playdough and use pumpkin shaped cookie cutters to create fun, seasonal shapes. Playdough is such a great sensory toy and the fall aroma adds another dimension of experience. Pro-tip: glycerine makes it shinier if desired.
Toilet Paper Tube Mummies

Be the most fun parent around when you make these toilet paper tube mummies with your kids. Glue shredded toilet paper to toilet paper rolls and use a marker to make the faces. It’s an easy craft to pull together because it doesn’t have a ton of components, the kids can be creative with making different facial expressions and it is quick – which is ideal for young kids with shorter attention spans.
Fall Apple Lei

Grab your scissors, twine, plastic straws, construction paper, hole punch & tape and get ready to wear your fall excitement. Using This West Coast Mommy’s printable template, cut out apple shapes from the construction paper in a variety of fun fall colours. Assemble the lei using the twine and the straws to space out the apple cut outs. You can use the hole punch to make the holes for the twine to go through. The tape can be used to make threading the twine easier. Your kids will “fall” for this fun craft!
Spooky Paper Spiders

Grab some construction paper, googly eyes, scissors and glue to make this spooky Halloween spider. Make a circle to form the body – try tracing a mug like Olivia did, and cut it out. Have your kids crinkle strips of construction paper to make the legs and add eyes so the spider appears to be looking at you. Put it all together and you’ve got a creepy Halloween craft you can hang from the ceiling. It’s also a great way to teach your kids about arachnid anatomy.
