Agrifair at the Ag-Rec, 32470 Haida Drive
When: Friday August 2 to Sunday, August 4, 10 am to 11pm
Highlights for families: Minigolf, Lego, learn about dairy farming, check out antique farm equipment, enjoy live music, gymnastics, entertainment, loggers, pirates, wrestling, science world, a truck pull and more. Kids under 10 are free!
BC Day Celebration at Burnaby Village Museum, 6501 Deer Lake Avenue
When: Monday, August 5, 11 am to 4:30pm
Highlights for families: Enjoy circus fun with Vancouver Circus School, learn about Burnaby’s Chinese-Canadian families with The Stride Studios, find out how to research your genealogy with the BC Genealogical Society and get answers to all your gardening questions. Throw foam axes, learn limericks, take in lumberjack antics and watch log rolling at a special Market Monday. Gate admission is free and Carousel rides are $2.65.
Brigade Days at Fort Langley, 23433 Mavis Ave
When: Saturday August 3 to Monday, August 5, 10 am to 4:45pm,
Highlights for families: Witness “The Arrival of the Fur Brigades” canoe reenactment at 1pm as well as other historical dramatizations, music, stories and traditional skills. There will be performers in costume and a day of educational fun.
Caribbean Festival at Maple Ridge Fairgrounds
When: Saturday, Aug 3: 1pm – 10pm & Sunday, Aug 4: 12pm – 8pm
Highlights for families: Enjoy over 100 entertainers, Caribbean food, an open air market, face painting and rides in the kids zone as well as 30-40 street vendors, balloon animals, crafts and bouncy castles.
Fridays on Front
When: Friday, August 2, 5 pm – 9 pm
Highlights for families: TGIF with us this summer: artisan market, food trucks, live music, in a fully licensed street venue, free admission, easily accessible by sky train. 8 consecutive Fridays!
Summer Concert Series: Pop Night, Town Centre Park
When: Friday, August 2, 7 – 9 pm
Highlights for families: Music lovers can enjoy free summer concerts under the evening sky at TD Community Plaza (also on September 6).
Summer Sundays at Rocky Point Park, 2800 block of Murray Street
When: Sunday, August 4, 2 pm
Highlights for families: Free concert, donations accepted for Crossroad Hospice Society.
Loggers Sports Festival, Squamish Logger sports ground

Highlights for families: Loggers Sports turns 62 this year! Enjoy music, children’s activities, a kettle boil, a parade, wacky bed races, chainsaw chair carving, an 8K run, pancake breakfast, two world class Loggers Sports Shows! So much fun all weekend!
Picnic at the Pavilion, Junction Park & O’ Siyam Pavilion, Cleveland Avenue Downtown Squamish
When: Monday, August 5, 11-4:30pm
Highlights for families: Activities for the kids, a boot camp, bring your own picnic or grab lunch from a food truck and listen to live music.
Movies under the Stars at Holland Park
When: Saturday, August 3, 5pm
Highlights for families: Watch Space Jam on the big screen for free, and enjoy local performers, arts and crafts, games, and other fun activities.
BC Day at Sunset Community Centre, 6810 Main Street
When: Monday, August 6, 11-1pm
Highlights for families: Join in for BC Day fun at Sunset Community Centre.
Honda Celebration of Light
When: Saturday, August 3, at Second Beach during the day, English Bay at night
Highlights for families: Check out the family-friendly activities, live music and food trucks. Take in the fireworks starting at 10pm and watch Canada’s team fireworks display.
Powell Street Festival, Powell Street
When: August 4 and 5
Highlights for families: Learn more about Japanese-Canadian culture, with traditional art and cultural displays, yummy Japanese food, drumming, tea ceremonies, origami, tug of war, watermelon game, and something called a Kiai contest that involves getting really noisy. There’s also face painting, hat making, martial arts and a tent of kids activities.
Pride Festival & Parade, West End & Sunset Beach
When: Sunday, August 4, 11 am – 6 pm
Highlights for families: Take in the Parade from 12-3 pm and then enjoy the Sunset Beach festival 11 am – 6 pm. At the festival, there’s a family fun zone set up with kids activities and fun for the whole family.
Harmony Arts Festival, Argyle Avenue, from 14th Street to 16th Street
When: August 2-11
Highlights for families: Concerts and free films in the park during Cinema in the Park, sponsored by West Vancouver Optometry Clinic, at the Main Stage in John Lawson Park. Films will start at 9 p.m.
Semiahmoo Days and the White Rock Sea Festival, Semiamhoo Park to Memorial Park

Highlights for families: Live entertainment, kid’s activities, vendors lining the promenade, Pirates in the Park, movie night, traditional salmon BBQ, pirate parade, the Torchlight Parade with a grand finale of fireworks at dusk.
