2021 FAMILY CAMP ON GABRIOLA ISLAND

If you're like our family right now, you're making tentative summer travel plans within British Columbia and keeping your fingers crossed that travel restrictions will be lifted and case numbers will be down in time for us to enjoy all of the amazing outdoor adventures our beautiful province offers in the summertime. One of those local getaways you'll want to consider booking now is the Families In The Spotlight 5-day onsite summer camp experience for your family bubble to attend together at The Haven on Gabriola Island in July & August.

Come to the Haven this summer for an exciting new offering from the KITS team – Families in the Spotlight (FITS). Denise Goldbeck and her team of youth leaders, will lead families through a week of games, connection and creativity! This program has been in development for years as a compliment to the hugely successful Kids in the Spotlight, and is perfect for the current situation we find ourselves in during the pandemic.

Bring your family bubble to join up to 6 other family bubbles for 5 days of transformative recreation. This is an amazing opportunity to experience the Haven and the KITS magic in an intimate setting. The Families in the Spotlight program is designed for the entire family group – babies, kids, teens, parents, grandparents together in a bubble with other bubbles practicing new ways of interacting and supporting the family. Through outdoor playtime & games like kick the can, soccer, dance, singing, role play, and theatre with costumes and props (no experience necessary!), you'll experience bonding and improved family harmony going forward.

Gabriola is BC’s most accessible gulf island, with ferries and float planes transporting passengers from Vancouver, Victoria, and Nanaimo in as few as 20 minutes. Roughly the size of Manhattan, Gabriola boasts less rain than surrounding cities, access to essential services like medical care, and the peace and tranquility of island living. The Haven has been offering programs on their 7-acre oceanfront property on Gabriola for over 35 years.

The Haven has a range of comfortable accommodations. All guests attending this summer have the option to book Basic, Forest View and Ocean View Rooms for their family bubbles, and meals are included for all Families in the Spotlight bookings. Haven WiFi covers most of the property, and their popular oceanfront hot tub and outdoor swimming pool will be accessible to families following strict pandemic protocols. Limited spots available due to the pandemic, and bursaries are available to families in need.

Haven will be complying with whatever Health Guidelines are set out by the British Columbia Health Officer. This may include the wearing of masks and/or social distancing during indoor and outdoor sessions and activities, and any other guidelines required by the Health Officer. You can review their current pandemic protocols online. Families will be offered full refunds or credit for future programs if these programs are not allowed to run.
