Penzer Parkour Park
(4847 200 St, Langley)
Penzer Parkour Park spans 10,000 square feet and includes playgrounds designed for kids ages 2-5 and 5-12. The ground is shock absorbing rubber and there is a pump track for skateboarders as well as a multi-sport plaza. It has a shelter with picnic tables and Parkour course is made of wood. It is an impressive award-nominated outdoor play space to explore.
Terra Nova Adventure
Play Environment
(2340 River Rd, Richmond)
The Terra Nova Adventure Play Environment is located in Richmond, BC. It includes ziplines, 3m high swings, a pivot swing, a twisting stainless steel hillside slide, a rolling hill for younger kids to play on and a meadow maze, all in the “Paddock section of the playground. The homestead section boasts a 10m tall Treehouse with four platforms, a rope ladder and another big spiral slide. There is a timber structure for climbing, a walkway made from rope, a fun feature called the “Spinnery’, a water and sand play area for the little ones and a timber swing just their size too!
Queen’s Park Playground
(3rd Ave, New Westminster)
Out in New Westminster, Queen’s Park is a playground with great nearby amenities. It has a spray park and a petting zoo, and two playgrounds designed for kids different age groups. There’s a sandbox, climbing structures, big slides, teeter totters and even a truck to climb into for the little ones. There are picnic facilities nearby and a concession stand in case the kids get hungry. There are adjacent sports fields and a bandshell too.
John Lawson Playground and Splash Pad (17th St., West Vancouver)
This pirate themed playground is located near a splash pad and has a view of the ocean. It has swings, climbing structures, a pirate ship structure, a wooden train and train station to play on and shaded benches to watch the kids play from in comfort.
Lions Park
(2300 Lions Way, Port Coquitlam)
This recently renovated play space has tractor tires, a zipline, swings, a sandbox, a long slide, a splash park, picnic space and it’s accessible to accommodate fun for kids of all levels of abilities. There are also lots of climbing options and opportunities for musical play. It had a million dollar upgrade between 2013 and 2015, and its transformation is impressive.
Mill Lake Park
(2310 Emerson Street, Abbotsford)
In Abbotsford, Mill Lake boasts three separate playgrounds, a waterpark, outdoor pools and walking paths. There are picnic shelters, a 2.3km walking path, and lots of green space to play in. There is a variety of equipment to climb on, slides, an outdoor fitness circuit, and swings.
Queenston Park Playground
(3415 Queenston Ave, Coquitlam)
Queenston Park is built into the side of the hill and was built by Habitat Systems. It has slides and climbing structures, nets and walls with a soft surface for landing on. It is bright and colourful and takes advantage of the natural geography of the park. The ladders wriggle and there are so many different ways to blow off steam climbing around.
Garden City Community Park
(6620 Garden City Road, RIchmond)
This playground is fun because kids helped design it. It has unique and natural climbing structures, large slides, swings, a big tree stump, climbing nets, a crow’s nest, and the park includes a large arboretum which has a wide variety of tree species. It also has a recycled rubber base to help with shock absorption.
Stanley Park
(8501 Stanley Park Dr., Vancouver)
Stanley Park has multiple playground options with a variety of climbing equipment, swings, slides, jungle gyms, a splash pad, a fire truck, picnic areas and so much nature. Ceperley, Second Beach and Rose Garden are favourites. This beautiful piece of nature in the heart of the sitting has been winning hearts for decades. Hop on the miniature train if you have time!
Confederation Park
(250 Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby)
Located in Burnaby, this playground is 700 square metres, has a rubberized play surface, seesaws, spinner bowls, swing sets, a climbing rock, and picnic facilities. The park itself also has a spray park, walking track, sports facilities and a skate park. There’s so much to explore in this centrally located play space.
