It’s finally picnic weather and the Lower Mainland has so many great spots to choose from. Pack a lunch, a blanket, some sunscreen, and refillable water bottles, and get ready for family relaxation and fun in the sun!
We've rounded up our favourite picnic-worthy parks in Abbotsford, Burnaby, New Westminster, Port Moody, Vancouver, and West Vancouver.
Whichever picnic spot you choose, have a wonderful time in the great outdoors. They call it Beautiful British Columbia for a reason. Get out there and enjoy it!

ABBOTSFORD
Mill Lake is a perfect spot for picnics. There’s a splash park, three different playgrounds, a walking path around the lake and plenty of picnic tables and shelters. There’s even an outdoor pool for swimming.
BURNABY
Burnaby Village Museum (6501 Deer Lake Avenue) has picnic tables to enjoy a meal after a carousel ride, exploring the blacksmith shop, general store and the print shop. When you’re done, stop in at the ice cream parlour. The townsfolk are dressed up in costume and it’s a wonderful historical experience.
NEW WESTMINSTER
Queens Park (3rd Avenue) has a picnic table and shelters, a petting zoo, skate park, rose gardens, a spray park, playground and off-leash dog area. There are sports fields to play on and an outdoor fitness circuit if you want to get a workout in. Grab some snacks at the concession and enjoy a nice day at the park.
PORT MOODY
Rocky Point Park (2800 Murray Street) is a great place for a family picnic. It boasts Shoreline Trail for a hike, kayaks and paddleboards to rent, a spray park, an outdoor pool, skatepark, a bike park and even delicious ice cream cones. There will be lots of fun things to do before and after your picnic meal.
VANCOUVER
Queen Elizabeth Park (Cambie Street and West 33rd Avenue) is another wonderful picnic spot. Bloedel Conservatory is in the park with quarry gardens, an arboretum, a rose garden, art installations as well as fountains. There’s room to play basketball, tennis, lawn bowling, roller hockey and golf. There are picnic tables, BBQ pits and an off-leash dog area so your four legged family members will have fun too!
Stanley Park is huge - 400 hectares of lush greenery, expansive trails, beaches, and more. There are four playgrounds, pitch and putt, tennis courts, a water park, an outdoor pool, and a miniature train to ride. There are lots of picnic spots and when you’re done you can head down to the Aquarium or look at the totem poles.
WEST VANCOUVER
Lighthouse Park (4902 Beacon Ln) has walking trails & a functioning lighthouse to explore. Watch birds & spend time with your dog off-leash. At 75 hectares, there’s so much to explore. We can't get enough of this one!
